A trio of food and drink specialists in Portland will team up for World Baijiu Day, says Vicki Ly of Vinn, one of the rare distilleries outside China that produces baijiu.
Get into the spirit during the afternoon when The Dump Truck pulls up at the Vinn tasting room for an hour of delicious fun (4 PM to 5 PM). Homemade dumplings by Julia Filip and Reid Barrett, who learned their trade during a stint in Beijing, will be paired with cocktails made using Portland’s very own baijiu.
The action then moves to restaurant Kung Pow, where Henry Liu and Vo Chiem feature “modern versions of classic Chinese dishes”. The night will include samples of Vinn as well as baijiu cocktails.
Given how rare it is to find a distillery outside China making baijiu with local ingredients, this is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in spirits. And dumplings. And good Chinese food.
