During the first five World Baijiu Day celebrations, Compass Bar by Curator in Shenzhen ranked among the strongest supporters, featuring over a dozen baijiu-inspired twists.
Those ranged from riffs on classics like the Negroni, Whiskey Sour and Bloody Mary to house creations such as The Fire Cracker, with Laphroaig, cinnamon syrup, lemon and orange juice, and bitters, and Mashing Those Bills, which married 30-year-old Moutai with grapefruit, lemon, cinnamon syrup and egg whites — and cost a whopping RMB1889 / USD275 at the time.
Happily, I made it to Shenzhen and enjoyed several of these creations on the spot. Many kudos to The Compass Bar for its support in those early years.
