One cool facet of World Baijiu Day is people having fun with this spirit. And few people do it as much as Ludvig Sääf in Sweden, whether it’s through baijiu-inspired banquets, gold-infused cocktails, pop-up bars, gelato or tours in China.
Last year, Sääf, a Chinese drinking culture society called Jiuxian and Stockholm-based Stikki Nikki created a trio of gelatos flavored with Moutai, Shui Jing Fang and Red Star, brands that cover the three key categories: sauce aroma, strong aroma and light aroma respectively.
Sääf, who imports and distributors baijiu, says the gelato aka baijiulato are back for World Baijiu Day 2019, though it will be featured August 10 rather than August 9.
“We are working on something with cake bits and Moutai, on a peach-tropical blend with Luzhou Laojiao and making buttery awesomeness with Red Star,” says Sääf.
He’s also planning another banquet, this one also on August 10.
“Here in Stockholm, we will follow up last year’s success with another exclusive and ferocious boozy banquet at Restaurang R.Asia,” he says.
